18F — Permit not posted
Holding the permit isn't enough — it has to be posted in a conspicuous spot. This is a non-scored administrative item (0 grade points), so it won't move your letter grade, but inspectors look for it on arrival and it's a trivial fix. The permit being valid (18A) and the permit being posted (18F) are separate items — you can have the permit yet still get a posting note if it's tucked away. Put it on the wall where it's plainly visible and keep it current.
What the inspector looks for
Look at the wall near the customer entrance — the valid permit must be posted and visible. A permit that's valid but kept in a drawer, or posted where customers can't see it, is the issue. (Non-scored administrative item.)
How it's scored
This is an administrative item — it is not scored toward your A/B/C letter grade, but it can still be cited on an inspection.
How to fix it
Post the valid permit in the required conspicuous location.
How to prevent it
Keep the permit posted where it is visible and current.
- ✓Post the current permit in a visible, conspicuous location, typically near the entrance with your grade card.
- ✓Replace the posted permit with the new one immediately at renewal — don't leave an expired copy up.
- ✓Keep it behind glass or laminated so it stays legible.
- ✓Check during opening that it's still on the wall and hasn't been taken down during cleaning.
